Welcome to BackStage WebPages
This site is an example of BackStage WebPages set up for our fictional orchestra, the Great Authors Philharmonic Orchestra.
All versions of BackStage output their schedule data to web pages that are hosted on our web servers by simply one click of a button. The cost of these web pages is included within the cost of BackStage and thus gives orchestras a very low cost and easy to use ability to use the internet to communicate with their members. These pages are password protected for users of BackStage Professional and BackStage Enterprise and public for BackStage Lite allowing members and staff of the orchestra to view key schedule data from any internet connected computer through a standard browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox.
As well as schedule data, BackStage WebPages display a Notice Board page that allow orchestras to communicate up-to-date information of their choice to members and a fully editable TextImage page that allows orchestras that have no internet presence to add text and images of their choice. Editing these pages is no more difficult than using a standard word processor and requires no specialist knowledge of code. BackStage WebPages also include a number of administration pages visible only to the BackStage account holder for administering your BackStage account. These are all made visible but uneditable on this site.
We will be continuously added extra web pages to the BackStage WebPages solution that orchestras can buy if they wish to display other key data to both members and/or the general public.
Some orchestras may wish to host their entire website on our web servers using their own domain name although many already have excellent websites and will want to keep the BackStage WebPages as a separate entity for members only.
For users of
BackStage Professional and BackStage Enterprise, BackStage WebPages are built using 'role-based' security. This means that all members of an orchestra are assigned a security role and can see only the pages available to that security role. Currently
BackStage WebPages recognise three security levels - Player, Staff and Admin.
- Players can see the TextImage, Notice Board and Schedule page.
- Staff can see the same pages as the players but have the ability to edit the TextImage and Notice Board page content They can also view the SMS text page to see which SMS text have been sent or failed, add more SMS credits to the BackStage account and use the priority Support page.
- Admin can view and edit all pages visible to Staff and also include the ability to select which PROJECTS are displayed on the Schedule page, change all BackStage account details, upgrade BackStage, decide which members of the orchestra should be allowed to view the web pages, add Google Apps login details allowing BackStage schedule data to be automatically uploaded to Google Calendars for those accounts and view all invoices with 2434.com.
We will be adding extra security roles to the BackStage solution in the future allowing orchestras to display more comprehensive information available to different members of the organisation.
